In a multidisciplinary practice that includes sculpture, installation, performance, time-based video, and drawing. I create work that is inspired by the social and political constructs of the gender binary and how those constructs shape our actions and perceptions toward ourselves and those around us.
It is my intent to create a story with my work, especially with that of performance, because stories have the power of transporting us to create empathy. I believe many of the topics I approach in my work can be difficult for some people to accept. By allowing the viewer to come to terms with the concepts of my work on their own time, I hope to break down biases and help others to see things from a different perspective.
